Wheel thrown and assembled B-mix clay, various glazes, wood fired in reduction. 6.5 inches x 6.5 inches x 10.5 inches.
I made this mostly because I wondered if I could. Throwing on the wheel... cursive scribbles in my notebook... a doodle in space. Something about stored energy and momentum.
The heavily reduced raw clay has taken on a smoky purple, with wood ash and rust-like glaze drips adding to the industrial yet earthy effect.
Perfect coffee table art for people with no children or pets; good shelf art for the rest of us.
It does rest gently on one side without rolling away, but I'd recommend using a bit of museum putty for more stability. It rolled away from me many times while making it and I don't think it's done yet.
